Building a Bracelet

Bracelet is fabricated from sheet & wire: sterling silver, copper, brass…

Shapes have been cut from copper and brass sheet using a jeweler’s saw. Notches are cut slightly smaller than than the diameter of the wire and here I’m size-to-size fitting the wires to the notches by squeezing the ends of the wires to match the width of the notch…

The wire-to-sheet assembly is clamped to a piece of porcelain and ready to silver solder…

Continuing to fit parts for soldering…

Filing the grooves…

The top solder assembly is complete and I’ve made rivets from silver wire. The two parts are ready to join…

Fluxed, riveted and ready to solder…

Soldered, detailed, pre-polished and ready to be formed. After forming I’ll final polish and clean. Then I’ll clean some more. Having a very clean part is the key to a good finish.

Complete…oxidized finish sealed with a very durable wax.
